Hats don't usually seem to fit in the 9 to 5 day for most people, however, they can if you style them properly. The key to wearing a hat either to work or at work is to make the rest of your look professional with a resort like touches. For example, I started with a pair of cropped black dress pants, which are a classic work staple, but I added a blouse with a leaf motif and green background to bring in that resort feel. Silver complimented these hues, so I tossed on a silver statement necklace and watch. Going along with all the silver accents, I decided a pair of pumps in the same metallic hue would be unexpected, yet still appropriate because they are closed toe, so they are more conservative for the office. Lastly, adding a handbag with a black and white pattern looked modern, while the structured shape was perfect for work. Be sure to check back for "Fancy Friday" to see how I style this week's "Perfect Piece", the Panama style hat, into a formal outfit!
