Happy New Year's Eve everyone! I'm sure you all have somewhere fabulous to go tonight, or even if you are just cuddling up to the fire and having a casual night in, you still want to look glamorous. There are many different kinds of New Year's Eve events, which therefore calls for several different outfits. Here is my interpretation on how to dress for the following events. Tell me which look is your favorite and what you'll be wearing as you ring in 2015 in the comments below!
Fancy Dinner Date
Dress (similar): Ross Dress for Less (store) Carmen Marc Valvo (designer)/ Clutch (similar): DSW (store) Lulu Townsend (designer)/ Booties (similar): Target
For a date night with a significant other, you want to go with a look that is sophisticated and classy, but still shows some skin. This black dress hugs my body but is still loose enough so it doesn't read too over-the-top. I love how this dress sparkles and shines, even though it is a classic shape and a dark color. These booties made the overall look more fun for a date and the gold clutch mimicked the gold open toe area of the booties. Overall this outfit will turn your dates head and maybe a couple more!
girl's night Out
Jacket (similar): Aeropostale/ Dress (similar): Express/ Necklace: Target/ Heels (similar): DSW (store) Audrey Brooke (designer)/ Clutch (similar): TJ Maxx (store) Michael Kors (designer)
When it comes to a night out on the town with your girls, you want to have a look that's fun and flirty. Plus this venue is the time that you can have fun with trendier pieces and take some fashion risks. I started with the dress because I love the fit and flare structure of it, along with the deep V-neckline. Layering a blue leather jacket on top added to the fun factor by pulling hints of blues from the dress. For jewelry a chunky and bold statement necklace was the perfect touch and some strappy, gold heels made the perfect adornment for my feet. A navy clutch that held all my essentials was the finishing touch to have some fun with the girls!
Fancy House Party
Jumpsuit (similar): Charlotte Russe/ Heels (similar): DSW (store) Guess (designer)/ Clutch (similar): Target (store) Sonia Kasuk (designer-came with a makeup brush set)/ Bracelet (similar): Nordstrom
When going into someone's home for a semi-formal party, you want to be comfortable, but still well dressed. A jumpsuit is the perfect piece to wear because you have the comfort of wearing pants, while still looking stylish. Jumpsuits are great alternatives to dresses because they still evoke a modern take on a formal look, while allowing one to be comfortable. Since this jumpsuit had a cutout in the front and back, as well as the jeweled collar detail, I didn't want any accessories to compete, so I did not wear a necklace, but instead opted for a bracelet and some great heels. As for a clutch, I picked this sparkly one to keep all my necessities tucked under my arm as I mingle about.
Casual House PArty
Shirt (similar): American Eagle Outfitters/ Vest (similar): Kohl's (store) Jennifer Lopez (designer)/ Necklace (similar): Target/ Pants (similar): Calvin Klein/ Stilettos (similar): Target/ Handbag (similar): Macy's (store) Coach (designer)
If you are like many people, you are probably spending New Year's Eve at one of your family member's homes. However, that is no excuse to not look fabulous and party ready. While a sequin dress may be to formal for this occasion, you can still rock some great pieces. A fur vest is a cool statement piece for this venue because it is both warm and comfortable. Dressing the vest down with a pair of leather pants and a jean shirt is a great way to make the look not so dressy. Slipping on an edgy pair of heels and a statement necklace are easy ways to amp up this look. A glossy red handbag is a beautiful pop of color that's sure to have all eyes on you as you make an entrance.
Party at home
Hat (similar): American Eagle Outfitters/ Top (similar): Kohl's (store) Juicy Couture (designer)/ Pajama Bottoms (similar): Target
If you are not going out and about this New Year's Eve (or even when you get home from your events), you can still make a statement in the comfort of your own home. Being both cute and comfy is possibly all while watching the countdown. You can still have fun and wear sequins, just wear them on a sweater or sweatshirt and pair that with your favorite pajama bottoms. A warm and fuzzy hat is another cozy and glamorous touch to get ready to start 2015 in style!
